I have a vintage trumpet, a Gretsch Pathfinder, which appears to be in frosted & shiny nickel coated brass.?

The stamping on the bell states its name & also Chicago / Brooklyn. It has a serial number of 4 digits starting with 3. Besides similar instruments on Ebay, I cannot find out any information about the horn or the early Gretsch company (before they moved into the guitar business). Anyone out there have any idea where I can find some information???? Thanks.
I don't know much about Gretsch, but I've heard a rumor that they were bought out by Amati. I haven't been able to find out much of anything else though. Sorry...

I don’t know much about Gretsch, but I’ve heard a rumor that they were bought out by Amati. I haven’t been able to find out much of anything else though. Sorry…
