Im thinking about buying a bass guitar…. and its got to be able to slap! any suggestions which one?

June 25, 2009 | vintage bass guitar

I am a beginner musician and I love slap.. i heard the squier vintage mod was good for slap but I have no idea.. please?

Any bass could slap really, but Try to get a four string though, Five String basses are very very hard to slap.
When you're looking for a bass, i guess look for ones with spaced out strings, Or high action.

  3. Yeah dude you can slap on any bass. just go for a bass you like in your price range - they are all pretty good.

  4. The slapping is a matter of technique not model. It takes lots of practise and a really good sense of rhythm.
Contrary to popular belief, the choice of strings doesn't really matter either.

  5. personally, im not a bass player, im a drummer, but im in a band with 4 other friends, and my closest friend plays the bass, he learnt slap pretty quikly, and has no trouble with it whats so ever. it doesnt matter what type of model your guitar is. just buy one that feels right to you. but i would recommend the fender squier. very nice to play! good luck.

  6. Musicman Stingray, but those are a bit pricey. A P-bass is good if you want something cheaper.

Mexican Fender goes for about $550 or a Squier bass for about half that if you're really on a tight budget.

  7. The most important thing to keep in mind is the fact that while you can slap any bass, some are better suited for this style. You absolutely want to make sure whatever bass you purchase has active electronics (on board battery powered preamp). Also as someone else mentioned a 4 String is a lot easier to control than a 5 string when it comes to slapping. A lot of the Ibanez basses have Active electronics and are well suited to slapping, but really any bass with active electronics will do the trick for you.

  9. slapping can be done on any bass really, do you know ho to slap? you just hit the string with your thumb. Popping is when you pull the string slightly away from the bass and let it ping against the neck. thats so cool
